Who I Am

Applause won’t hold me at night
But failure hangs on tight
I wonder about who I am when I’m alone
Kind words evaporate
But critics never seem to fade
I wonder about who I am when I’m alone

I don’t have much to say
I’m hoping You don’t feel the same
Am I who You say I am
Or who I seem to be

I feel like I’m stuck in the plans
Am I defined by the works of my hands
I wonder about where I stand when I’m alone
It feels like I’m half of a man
Do You love me as I’ll be or as I am
I wonder about where I stand when I’m alone

I don’t have much to say
I’m hoping You don’t feel the same
Am I who You say I am
Or who I seem to be
I’ve come face to face with the grave
And parts of me needed to stay
Am I who You say I am
Or who I seem to be

Home is always there
It’s me who leaves its care
It’s You who’s there to welcome me back home
Home is always there
It’s me who leaves its care
It’s You who’s there to welcome me back home
You welcome me back home

And I don’t have much to say
But I’m hoping You don’t feel the same
Am I who You say I am
Or who I seem to be
I’ve come face to face with the grave
And parts of me needed to stay
Am I who You say I am
Or who I seem to be

Home is always there
It’s me who leaves its care
It’s You who’s there to welcome me back home
You welcome me back home
