One by One

What a sad state of affairs
When some die and others don’t care
With blind eyes becoming less rare
Help me to see You
What a tragic turn of events
When man pleads and God relents
While the rest sit back and stare
Help me to see You

What a terrible tragedy
To see men pretend they’re machines
And live lives of statistical means
I’m trying to find You
What a less-than-desirable state
When there’s nothing that’s left for to wait
And the appetite’s unsatisfied
I’m trying to find You

No not one can stand on his own two feet
Yet here we are
One by one we fall down to our knees
And here we are

What a telling moment in time
When hands are divorced from the mind
And one soul lives two different lives
I desperately need You
The battle that’s waged in the street
Is the one that’s raging in me
And it’s starting to feel like defeat
I desperately need You

No not one can stand on his own two feet
Yet here we are
One by one we fall down at Your feet
And here we are

No not one can stand on his own two feet
Yet here we are
One by one we fall down at Your feet
And here we are

What a desperate world I’m in
To make light of the weight of my sin
Yet I’m no easy case to convince
Help me to find You
What a vicious cycle to see
Wash the blood from my hands, rinse, repeat
And all to do it again
Help me to find You
