Just Like You

I could never walk a mile in your shoes
I struggled just to take a step or two
I thought that I was made to be just like you
But I found nothing could be further from the truth

Made in the image of my Maker
Creating just like my Creator
Like David I’ve tried the king’s armor
It just wouldn’t do
So I sling my guitar over my shoulder
And sing for the truth

Well I watched you walk for miles in those shoes
And I practiced so I’d do it just like you
Then I tried and I failed and I knew
That I’d never be myself if I played you

Made in the image of my Maker
Creating just like my Creator
Like David I’ve tried the king’s armor
It just wouldn’t do
So I sling my guitar over my shoulder
And sing for the truth

I’ve got big dreams
But there’s one thing I’ll never be
That’s you
You have done great things
I’m just learning to sing
My tunes
My tunes

Made in the image of my Maker
Creating just like my Creator
Like David I’ve tried the king’s armor
It just wouldn’t do

Made in the image of my Maker
Creating just like my Creator
Like David I’ve tried the king’s armor
But it just wouldn’t do
So I sling my guitar over my shoulder
And sing for the truth
